Does Masturbation Kill Your Energy?

Vishrant’s 4-Year Experience with Retention

Vishrant laughs as he recalls his own experiment.

For four years he practiced semen retention, the age-old idea that conserving sexual energy fuels spiritual growth.

What he found was different.

Instead of clarity, he became more obsessed with sex.

Instead of freedom, his mind said:

Yes. Yes. Yes.”

The practice didn’t dissolve sexual desire: it magnified it.

Watch Satsang excerpt here:

More Energy or Just More Obsession?

Whilst you do get more energy because of certain tantric practices like semen retention, a lot of the energy is wasted on fantasising about sex.

Retention does not necessarily bring serenity.

The practice can make one hungry for sex, rather than free from the desire.

Tantra, Retention & Sex Drive

“In certain spiritual circles, semen retention is suggested, particularly in Tantra. But it just turned me into someone who wanted sex all the time.”

Tantra often points seekers toward restraint.

But Vishrant’s lived experience told another story.

Desire grows stronger through suppression; the path takes you further away from Truth.

Real freedom does not come from repression.

Why Vishrant Doesn’t Recommend Retention

“Sex is healthy. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating life.”

Vishrant does not recommend semen retention because sex is just a natural part of life.

There’s nothing wrong with celebrating life and enjoying sex.

Sex can be a distraction if it becomes an obsession or addiction.

But sex itself is not the enemy of awakening.

Can Psychedelics Help Awakening?

“Psilocybin can give insights into how the mind operates. But no more insight than you find in meditation.”

Insights came, yes. But they were not the answer.

Too many seekers mistake insights for the answer.

But insight is only an invitation to do the deeper work, to stop resisting life and surrender what is in your way.

Insights Are Invitations, Not Answers

“No one’s woken up yet and said, ‘I woke up because of psilocybin.’”

A glimpse may show you the obstacles.

A vision may reveal the prison bars.

But freedom is not given by the glimpse.

The real work is undoing the mind itself,

removing every obstacle that stands in the way of living as your true nature.

Ayahuasca & Deep Self-Insight

Ayahuasca, too, can be profound.

It can show you your inner landscape, the obstacles blocking openness.

But the revelation is not the liberation.

The work is what comes after: preparing the mind for surrender and opening to find heart and love.

Ecstasy & Discovering Unconditional Love

“Ecstasy showed me that I was unconditional love. But it wasn’t the drug itself. It was that it knocked out my defences, leaving me wide open.”

Openness is the key.

The defence systems of the mind are what veil the Truth.

When they fall away, love is perceived as self.

Not because of the chemical, but because in openness,

Truth is seen, love is seen.

The Heart of the Teaching

Neither semen retention nor psychedelics are the way.

Both can create experiences.

But experiences are not awakening.

Freedom comes through openness and surrender.

Not through suppression. Not through shortcuts.

Truth is discovered in total surrender.
